Goop

I love how many of my posts recently really don’t have real words as their title. All are some form of a sticky, slimey or gooy substance that is just tons of fun for 3 year old boys (and their mom) to play in.

We recently (ish) made soom Oobleck to play with. I even had it as a station at Landon’s birthday party for the kids to explore. Now Oobleck is cool and I only mention it because of it’s common ingredient of corn starch, but this is pretty awesome as well. I think I may just start a series of mixing random things together to create a messy substance for Landon to play in. Who knows what else we can come across!

Shaving Cream
Corn Starch
Food Coloring (optional)

Mix equal (ish) parts of shaving cream and corn starch. Add food coloring!

Yup. It’s that easy. Now, I didn’t measure or anything. I literally just squirted some shaving cream in the bucket with corn starch on top and let him play with it. Shaving cream alone is pretty awesome to squish through your fingers. Add a few drops of food coloring if you want and mix away.

I was going for a messy consistency, and I think I got a little carried away with the corn starch. It turned into more of a bread dough – sticky but form-able. He played with that for a while and I squirted some more shaving cream in to loosen up the texture.

Messy? Yup. Pretty much all over him (see his chin?). Fun? You bet! What kid doesn’t like that it’s ok to get messy.
