Yesterday it was sooo hot I had to plan activities to do inside. Colored rice… it’s a neat sensory tub activity and the coloring process can be just as fun. I have some other things in mind for the rest of the week to do with this rice.

Colored Rice

Ziploc bag of rice (a few cups worth)
Vinegar
Food coloring

Add a few teaspoons of vinegar and a few drops of food coloring to the bag of rice. Making sure it’s sealed well shake and mix to get all of the rice colored.

Once the color is well distributed lay out on a foil covered cookie sheet and put in a 200 degree oven for about 10 – 15 minutes, or just long enough for all the moisture to be gone.

Play away! For the first day, I just let the boys play and explore with it. Riley had great fun throwing it across the room. My floors were a mess after but they fun they had was worth it!
