Simple Catapult

A few days after the Christmas craziness Brad and the boys created a simple catapult that created hours of endless fun. When I say simple – I mean simple. We took some of the wooden spoons from the kitchen and laid them on the edge of the table with a small ball in the scoop part of the spoon. Slide the spoon as far as you can off the table without it falling off. Then smack the handle of the spoon and send the ball flying.

The boys loved launching them. We experimented with how the placement of the spoon on the table affected how far and where the ball landed.

Great idea! We have a ball like that that lights up, so th twould make it a wee bit more fun.

    1. It does! You could even do it at night and turn out most of the lights – that would be fun!

  2. I was searching for ‘easy’ catapults on google and came across this post. All the other catapults need hot glue or strategically placed elastics. I love this idea because it’s so simple – no craftiness required. Thanks for sharing! (My 4-year-old is going to love it!)
